4th Unity Climb: Maragusan Spots

It's dry season so it'll be reasonable to go to cooler and well-watered places for our 4th unity climb. We originally planned for Mt. Apo this year and even made a reservation with DAM,Inc. However, upon discussion with the OCF-DO officers, we support the advisory to refrain from climbing our highest peak this climbing season. Why?
* the plant and animal species in Mt. Apo is in a fragile state due to dry season;
* there's the water shortage, pushing us to compete with each other as well as the flora and fauna;
* there's the high risk of bush or forest fire; and most of all
* we claimed to be pro-environment, let's give Mt.Apo a bit of rest she deserves.

So our choice, the nearer, cheaper and cooler place: the Maragusan Spots.
Let's Climb the 7 falls and overnight at Tagbebenta; Day swim at Aguacan Cold Springs; Overnight and Socials at Maragusan Hot Springs; Sunrise at Heaven's Peak.

Bob Marley Reggae Love Festival

Rain and blackouts greeted the OCF-DO's Reggae Love Festival at early evening... however later on, circumstances favored the show. Mati's very own Earth Soul band gave life to the night along with our own talents from OCF - Ryan, Rean, Damon, Juvy, Jing & Beloy. The party lasted until 3am.

Magum-Luban Coastal Hike

OCF-DO successfully completed the 4-day hike from Magum to Luban last December 26-30, 2009. The climb highlighted the scenic beauty of the Governor Generoso Peninsula on its eastern side in Mati.

The trek revealed the still pristine Macanao Lake, Nagas and Masanlod Rocky Cliffs, pine forests... sad that small-scale loggers are poaching the area despite local environmental campaigns.
